Northampton House is a 13-storey, 187-apartment development in Northampton, managed by M&C Property. Its intercom had only partly worked for years, leaving most residents unable to receive intercom calls or remotely admit visitors.
For affected residents, every visitor or delivery meant a trip downstairs. Across 13 storeys, even collecting a takeaway could mean a lengthy journey to the entrance. Visitors to those apartments had no working intercom to announce their arrival.
The board considered traditional wired replacements, but connecting 187 apartments to five access points would involve significant cost and a complex installation.
A wired replacement would also require access to individual apartments to repair or replace handsets. The development needed a way to restore visitor access without extensive installation work throughout the building.

Induct installed its intercom across five access points: two street-level entrances and entrances on three car park floors, covering visitor and resident routes into the development. The installation reused existing access-system wiring and infrastructure. Induct’s local installation partner completed the work in two days, without apartment handsets, access to individual apartments or significant disruption to residents.
Induct coordinated the installation and resident onboarding. Letters delivered to apartment letterboxes explained a simple three-step registration process. Residents could then open doors for themselves and admit visitors through the Induct app, while their existing fobs remained in use. M&C Property gained access to the Induct Admin Platform, providing oversight of visitor access and a live resident register.

Northampton House residents can now admit visitors and deliveries from their phones, without travelling downstairs. They can also admit deliveries while at work and use the app for their own entry, alongside existing fobs.
The system is used 600 times each week for resident entry and admitting visitors. M&C Property has visibility of visitor access and resident registrations through the Induct Admin Platform.
New residents can request access to Induct by following simple instructions on the hallway notice board. The property manager can approve or deny these requests at the click of a button. This gives incoming residents a straightforward way to sign up and keeps ongoing administration simple for the property manager.
